Sailing catamaran King 9

King 9 is a private sailing catamaran for up to 10 guests that pairs snorkelling at Koh Tan with the resident pigs of Koh Madsum. Fishing gear, paddleboards and floats are on board, and a night squid fishing trip runs for two. Day charters last 2.5, 4.5 or 8.5 hours.

Highlights

  • Private sailing catamaran for 1–10 guests
  • Snorkelling on the coral reefs of Koh Tan
  • Meet the resident pigs on Koh Madsum (Pig Island)
  • Fishing rods, paddleboards and floats on board
  • Night squid fishing under green lights, with dinner
  • Morning, afternoon, full-day and sunset departures

Overview

King 9 is a sailing catamaran chartered privately, so the whole boat belongs to your group. It takes up to 10 guests and is positioned as the most affordable private sailing catamaran on Koh Samui. The crew follows your pace, so you can linger where you like instead of keeping to a shared-tour timetable.

The route covers two small islands south of Koh Samui. Koh Tan, often called Coral Island, is the snorkelling stop, with clear water and reefs close to the anchorage. Koh Madsum (Pig Island) is a short hop away. Its resident pigs wander down to the beach, and the bay is sheltered enough for a swim or a paddleboard session.

On board

Fishing rods, snorkelling gear, stand-up paddleboards and floats are all provided. On the open deck you can fish over the side, drift on a float or simply lie back in the breeze. Beginners are welcome: the crew helps with both the fishing and the snorkelling.

After dark, King 9 also runs a night squid fishing trip for two guests, with dinner served on board. Green lights draw plankton, small fish and then squid to the surface, and the crew coaches you on the technique.

Choose your charter

The timing changes the character of the trip:

  • Full day (8.5 hours): a long snorkelling session, a lunch break on board and plenty of time with the pigs.
  • Half day (4.5 hours), morning or afternoon: the morning slot has the calmest sea for snorkelling, and the afternoon slot ends with a golden-hour sail home.
  • Good morning cruise (2.5 hours): a short, early trip for families and early risers.
  • Sunset cruise (2.5 hours): a swim, a little fishing and the sunset on the water.
  • Night squid fishing (4 hours): an evening on the water for two guests, with dinner.

Because the charter is private, you can swap the order of the stops, stay longer at a spot you like or keep the day relaxed. It suits families, friends, couples and small celebrations on the Gulf of Thailand.
